Eats up Ram

Opened my activity monitor to find out this app was using 2.47 GB of ram out of my 4. No wonder I notice my Mac was running a bit slower. Not using again until this is fixed Only plus side is that it’s convenient to have my gmail on the menu bar at all times.

Great App

I’ve been using this app for a few years now and it’s great. Just like using the web ui, only quicker access without having to open it in a browser. I would highly recommend it to anyone who uses Gmail on a regular basis.

not as good as MailTab Pro

I’m not sure why FipLabs has 2 similar products. I was using this one for a while, but memory use climbs to several GBs and so I have to keep restarting it. I’m going back to MailTab Pro For Gmail again.

I like it, but few improvements needed

I’ve been testing this app for the past 2 weeks, and so far I’m happy with it and it works well. Here’s a couple of improvements I’d like to see: 1) When you have multiple accounts installed, I’d like to be able to see new email notifications from the ones that are not “active”. Also the icon on the top bar menu, shows new emails only for the active account, not the other ones; 2) I’d like to see the clock when I’m on full screen mode.

Great app

I’ve been using this for a few months now and it’s been very useful. For those who just prefer to use the Gmail interface over other mail apps. Two suggestions I would have are as follows: -After clicking on the menu-bar icon, I often have to click the Refresh button to see if there is any new mail. It would be cool if it refreshes automatically as soon as you click on the menu-bar icon. -The app seems to consume more and more RAM as time goes on, really, an unfortunate amount of RAM being wasted. Surely this app doesn’t need that much RAM. Is it possible to fix this? I am thinking of making a script to just quit and relaunch the app every hour to purge the RAM it is using. Anyway, aside from these issues, it’s still a very good app. Thanks a lot to the developers for making this, and releasing it for free!

The RAM thing and some new conflict?

As the other review states, the RAM issue does seem to be getting worse and maybe it;s connected to a new problem that has come up in the past week or so. I don’t know if it was the last OSX update or maybe the last Chrome update but there are a collection of these “Go for…” and “Tab for…” apps that now seem to be conflicting with something. They get hung up, start consuming massive amounts of RAM to the point it brings my whole system to a crawl until I can open Activity Monitor and force close them. This Gmail one seems to be the worst which is too bad cause I like this app a lot and have used it for a looong time. I would gladly bring my review back up to a 4 or 5 if this problem could be fixed and the RAM usage was figured out. That had been getting worse for some time now. Thanks

This is the one.

Over the years I’ve tried and paid for several applications to manage my gmail. I use gmail as a hub to organize several email addresses and manage my business with it. Nothing came close enough to the familiar interface of gmail, access to the settings, searching on the server, etc. etc. This is like a window to the fully functioning gmail application. Have now uninstalled everything else, istalled this app on my Mac and on my iPad and am very happy. Thanks!

Go for Gmail

Quick and easy to use. Very pleased with the most current iteration of this application.

it is very good

very easy to use, i like it

Best gmail tab for MAC ever

So reaching your e-mails without the need to open a browser, i.e. from the top-right corner, has never been so easy. The look, not similar, same. Get it u wont regret it.

Could be better

It’s not so good as extensions for Chrome, besides it uses too much RAM. Anyway there’s no better alternative for Safari.

Many thanks! This is a really powerful Gmail desktop client.

great simple gmail app

For me this app is a perfect fit cause i am an active gmail user and i like gmail interface, which is kept in the app, but i don’t like having gmail always open as a separate tab in my browser, so this app is great for me: it has notifications about new letters and the number of unread ones is shown all the time by a little icon. Good - for me - thing is that you can add as many accounts as you wish and at the same time it only shows you the unread messages number for the current account - it’s just awesome for me, cause in similar app i have on iPad the total number is always shown and it’s quite stressing :)) I put 4 stars only because sometimes i get some automatic notification “this version of browser is too old, you gotta get a new one” even though i’m actually in the app window - it freaks me out a bit :) the rest is great!

Good enough

Good, but sometimes there is an ADVERTISEMENT!!! Please clean all types of emerging advertizing and then we’ll put 5 stars!

It simply works (even on El Capitan beta)

Flawless app, I can’t find any issues with it. Eats just a little bit of memory with a nice badge icon in the dock with unread messages counter, notifications works fine, as well as hotkeys. You can stretch out the menu bar icon just a bit in the next upgrade and this one will get even closer to a perfect app (-;

Go for Gmail

It’s fast but takes up too much memory.

Please add ⌘+F search on page!

Hey! Thanks for a great app! It really helps me. Please add ⌘+F search on page! Like it works in browser. It is necessary to find something in a long letter. I cant work without it

Best!

That’s it, absolutely perfect app for native Gmail experience. You guys did the impossible - simple one click access, nice customization and WOW here is Gmail on my Mac working 100% as it has to.

about tap above other apps

it would be great if you make an option when the tab is above other apps while a cursor is within the tab: you can open links, but do not switch to another app during this. the app’s closed when the cursor taps outside the tab — that’s so easy. very often it is more useful than keep the tab above other apps option.

Good one

Very comfortable to check all you gmail email. Easy and pretty.
