Go for Gmail - Email Client App Reviews

I like it

May be not perfect But I like it I use it allways

Not a memory hog!

App works well. No complaints. If all I want to do is read mail while working on other apps this is helpful because it does not eat up RAM like open browsers.

Works okay but …….

Nice little menu available app, but it uses nearly as much RAM as an open browser with multiple tabs open. If I’m going to have a utility type product that uses that much memory - I might as well just have my GMAIL open in a tab in my browser. Firefox with multiple tabs open: 1.2 GB’s of RAM. Go for Gmail: 990 MB’s. That’s too much RAM usage for what the products intended to do.

Best GMail App

This app works perfect for me. Have tried many others - this is the only Gmail app I use.

Good when it worked...

It worked great except sometimes it would decide it wasn’t going to scroll. And sometimes it would get stuck when typing an email response. And just now it crashed and when I tried to reopen it, it said it was damaged and I needed to redownload it. No thanks. (I have a Macbook Pro with plenty of space and ram, btw.)

Slow and glitchy

The idea of this app is amazing- I never have to log in via a web browser. However, I get more frustrated with it than anything and waste time trying to use it. It won’t scroll down in an email, or at least it can’t keep up with scrolling. It’s often really slow when I’m only trying to hit the check box on a handful of messages to delete them… so slow that I can never get to the step of hitting the trash button. I hope these glitches can be worked out so I can use the app to it’s full potential and stop having to switch to my phone to finish the task I’m trying to work on.

No issues to date:)

Works just fine. No issues to date. Would like to be able to save my logins and passwords for each of my gmail accounts. Thankls

Used to be good. Unusable with El Capitain

I used to love this app and it worked great, until I updated the OSX to El Capitain. Now it freezes whenever I click on the menu bar icon, so I have to refresh the window every single time. When typing a message, it constantly freezes until refreshed. Very frustrating to the point of being unusable! PLEASE FIX IT!!!

Works well

Apple’s native mail client was giving me problems with gmail. Several times a week, it would erase all my saved gmails and re-download tens of thousands of them from the server. After being unable to fix this problem, I delted my Google account from my Mac and turned to this app, which effectively mimicks the gmail web app. It works well, and is easier to access than having to launch gmail in my browser.

So close to being great

I absolutly love this program. If the memory leak could be found and fixed, this would easily be a 5 star program. Even with the memory leak, I won’t stop using it. I just created an automator script close it and reopen it every day. Please fix it.

Its ok

Does the job, however there are popups!!!!!

Really impressed, kept me from going back to a traditional web client

Yeah, this is really slick. 1) ONLINE GMAIL USERS: This is the same thing you already know and love, just missing 6-10 of the annoying steps you go through to log on through your brower. Time for an upgrade. 2) MailTab Pro Users: Hop in fellas, the water’s fine. If you’re hesitant because you like the way you have MailTab all set up now, I thought the same thing, and it took me 2 minutes to get it exactly how I had configured it in MailTab. Plus: ACCOUNT SWICHING W/O LOGIN EVERY TIME!!! 3) Apple Mail Users: I’m sorry about whatever bet you lost. (Hey FIPLAB, I know its small, but please add down-arrow scroll support when in split view, so I don’t have to use the mouse just to do that one task. I would be so grateful). Thank you, and fantastic work!

Awesome replacement for web gmail client

I love this app for managing my Gmail on my Mac! So nice to not have to pull up the browser to open my mail. I just click on the Menu Bar icon. I am happy to be able to resize the window now. Thanks a lot for that!

Works ok but needs some work

The app is a good app but needs some work. things like sorting by name, from, etc so the messages can be grouped and moved needs to be added. When you are in an email snd delete it, it returns to the inbox instead of marching on to the next email. Keep up the good work

If you are a music producer DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS

I used this for a couple weeks, today I did an update… and it removed ALL of my kontakt libraries. I had to re-register everything and came pretty close to losing all of my important projects. Everything worked fine, until I did an update and then all of my stuff was lost. I didn’t do ANYTHING different besides update this crappy app. STAY AWAY if you like your kontakt libraries working the way they should.

A++++

I LOVE Go for Gmail. It is a fantastic app.

Great app but.....

Its a great gmail app,but sometimes while it will show me my new emails in my box for deleting, once I try to open an email I get a connection lost message.

Okay, but not really

I don’t mind the app, but I don’t see how it is really that different from the Gmail web app. It looks and works pretty much the same. If you like the web app, then it isn’t really going to make much of a difference to you.

would like consolidated accounts

Decent app… looks just like the web app version… It would be cool if it had a feature where you could show an inbox that had multiple accounts linked to it. Also swiping capabilities would be nice.

Nice on surface, but may borrow more trouble than it solves

It has it’s appeal. I like the way notifications come in, unobtrusively, then leave. It does a pretty nice job laying out emails in simple easy to find sections, all visible at once glance. But although it claims not to be a memory hog, I’ve had trouble starting up since I’ve installed (and I have plenty of Flash memory for it). Ultimately, I have more control simply opening up Gmail every so often, via a Browser. Since I frequently use other memory intensive apps, I think it’s best to keep things simple.
